About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated and committed Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) in a mainstream setting. You will work closely with class teachers, the SENDCO, and external professionals to help children access the curriculum, build independence, and thrive socially and emotionally alongside their peers.
This is a new role created to strengthen our SEN provision, and we are looking for someone who brings previous SEN experience and has a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
From September 2026, we will also be launching a brand new DfE Free Breakfast Club. You will be expected to support the setting up and supervision of this breakfast club daily, alongside other colleagues.
About you
Supporting children with EHCPs in a mainstream setting can be challenging and at times but it is also enormously rewarding.
Resilience is a key personal quality for the role, alongside patience, warmth, flexibility, and the ability to adapt your communication style to meet each child’s individual needs.
Depending on the needs of the children you support, the role may include:
- Supporting the implementation of SALT programmes and EHCP outcomes
- Following positive behaviour support strategies and de-escalation approaches
- Adapting and scaffolding learning activities to enable access to the wider curriculum
- Promoting independence, social interaction, and inclusion within the classroom
Previous experience of working with children with SEN — particularly autism, SLCN, or learning difficulties — is essential.
What we offer
- A welcoming, supportive school community where SEN is everyone’s responsibility
- A dedicated and experienced SENCO and pastoral team
- Comprehensive induction and ongoing professional development
- The opportunity to make a genuine, lasting difference to children’s lives

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and its amendments.
We welcome and encourage visits to the school prior to application. Please contact the school office to arrange.
