Job Introduction

From 1 December 2025 the pay range for this role will be £47,181 - £53,460 Band 11 (pro rata for part time colleagues).   To promote fairness and consistency, all new starters will begin at the bottom of the pay band. This reflects our commitment to equity across the organisation and aligns with the approach taken with existing staff during the transition. While the starting salary is fixed, the role offers excellent scope for growth, meaningful contribution, and being part of a forward-thinking team.

Make a difference in your community as our Care Technology Innovation Lead (22 hours per week, job share):

We are looking for someone who is passionate about improving lives through technology. Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Innovation Lead to drive forward our Care Technology service. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of adult social care, helping residents live their best lives by embedding innovative solutions that meet individual needs. This hybrid role offers a blend of home working, office collaboration, and time spent out in the community.

About the Role

As Innovation Lead, you will:

  • Identify, embed, promote and evaluate Care Technology solutions for residents.
  • Work with partners, suppliers, colleagues and stakeholders to expand and improve our service offer.
  • Lead the delivery of projects and programmes linked to Care Technology, ensuring alignment with council strategy and objectives.
  • Act as the organisation’s subject matter expert, providing advice and support to adult social care practitioners.
  • Evaluate new equipment solutions and make recommendations for service use.
  • Mentor, coach and train internal and external stakeholders, including NHS employees, in deploying Care Technology options.
  • Promote the Care Technology offer at events, forums and through pilot programmes.
  • Advise on complex cases, including the deployment of Care Technology as an alternative to traditional care provision.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A qualified professional (degree or equivalent experience): Advanced credentials in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Nursing, plus hands-on experience driving change in social care through care technology.
  • Strong legislative knowledge: Familiarity with key health and social care legislation (e.g. Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, NHS and Community Care Act), and the ability to apply this to assess eligibility and inform practice.
  • Digital insight: A keen understanding of how digital technologies can enhance independence and wellbeing in social care.
  • Person-centred approach: Proven experience in enabling individuals to live independently through tailored, empowering interventions.
  • Commercial and strategic awareness: Knowledge of industry best practice and the care technology market, with the ability to identify and implement innovative solutions.
