Carers Social Activities Organiser - Part time 18.5 hours per week

Job Introduction

From 1 December 2025 the pay range for this role will be £31,537 to £36.363  Band 7 (pro rata for part time colleagues).   To promote fairness and consistency, all new starters will begin at the bottom of the pay band. This reflects our commitment to equity across the organisation and aligns with the approach taken with existing staff during the transition. While the starting salary is fixed, the role offers excellent scope for growth, meaningful contribution, and being part of a forward-thinking team.

Role Purpose

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people and has experience in customer service and/or organising events. This role supports unpaid, family carers across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole by planning and hosting social activities that give carers a break and help them connect with others.

 These events are an important part of BCP Carer Support’s work, which is guided by the local Carers Strategy 2024/2027. The strategy aims to recognise, value and support carers in their caring role and improve their wellbeing. Some events also include the person they care for, helping carers enjoy time together in a relaxed setting.

Main Responsibilities

You will lead the planning, organisation and promotion of social events for unpaid carers. These events may take place during the day and evening. You’ll also help manage and maintain BCP Carer Support’s beach huts and two holiday lodges, ensuring they are well-stocked and kept to a high standard.

You will work closely with the Carers Support Team to coordinate event bookings and ensure all arrangements run smoothly. A key part of the role involves responding to enquiries from carers in a respectful, empathetic and professional manner, including those who may be experiencing distress or challenging circumstances.

This role involves working both independently and as part of a supportive team. You’ll be encouraged to bring new ideas and help shape activities that meet the needs of carers across the BCP area. A key part of the role is embracing and promoting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, ensuring all carers feel welcome and represented. You’ll have opportunities to grow and develop within the role, contributing to the wider aims of the Carers Strategy and helping improve the wellbeing of carers in our community.

The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have experience working with the public, ideally in customer service or event coordination, and will be confident in planning and delivering social activities. Personal experience of caring for a vulnerable person is highly valued, along with a strong understanding of the challenges faced by unpaid carers.

You will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to respond sensitively and professionally to individuals in distress. You should be able to work independently, take initiative, and contribute effectively as part of a collaborative team. A commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is essential, ensuring that all carers feel welcomed and respected.
